There are so many books out there--how do you choose what to read? Join us for "The Best of" Book Club, where we read the titles that have received high praise from review journals, news outlets...and our staff!

Do you agree with the reviewers, or have a totally different opinion? Let us know your thoughts! Didn't finish the book? That's ok. Join us for a lively discussion, or give us a recommendation for a title that you love.

This month, we read The Violin Conspiracy by Brendan Slocumb. A limited number of copies are available ahead of time at the library--stop by to check one out from our Book Club display.

"Skillfully juggling...two timelines, Slocumb builds tension exquisitely while writing about music with both technical precision and richly evocative metaphors. This flawless debut will do for classical music what The Queen's Gambit did for chess." - Booklist Reviews

"This novel brings an unflinching eye to the sometimes-cutthroat world of classical music, its very white culture, and the challenges a talented young Black violinist might face in that world. ... Strongly recommended." - Library Journal
